School Janitor Hasn’t Seen His Family In 30 Years, Hockey Team Found Out And Left Him Tearful 2k

One could only imagine what it must be like to be away form family for years, Minasie Theophilis is a janitor at the Augsburg College in Minneapolis, Minnesota for almost three decades and has become a school figure. Every student knows him as the friendly janitor and has got a lot of respect from students and staff alike.

He was born in Ethiopia and travelled to Minnesota when he was a student, however he’s never had the opportunity nor resources to be able to go back and see all his family and friends that he left behind. It’s been over three decades since he’s seen them, but can still talk to them over the phone and internet, but he says it’s just not the same. His inability to travel back home meant that he missed his mom’s funeral back in his hometown and has long been sad since then.

The hockey team got word of what happened and how he hadn’t been back in over 30 years, and they were determined to find a way to get him back home, by publicly raising money, amounting to over $5,000.
